Contribute to the healing journey at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care as a Temporary Full-Time Therapeutic Recreation Assistant. Engage with patients through tailored recreational activities, fostering their development and leisure needs.
In this role, you will support the Recreation Therapist in delivering recreation therapy services across multiple settings. Your responsibilities will include planning engaging programs, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining financial accountability for recreation resources. You will be instrumental in enhancing the recreational offerings for clients while upholding the highest standards of care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in developing and facilitating recreation therapy programs
• Collect and report data for program evaluations
• Maintain and deliver recreation equipment effectively
• Ensure a safe environment during recreational activities
• Communicate client feedback to the Recreation Therapist
Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in Therapeutic Recreation or equivalent
• Registration with TRO as R/TRO DIP preferred
• Valid Class G Driver’s License required
• National Lifeguard Service Certification preferred
• Experience in forensic mental health services is beneficial
