Position: Tennis Centre Head Pro – Fall/Winter/Spring 2026-2027

Job Overview

Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team offers the opportunity to make a difference and connect with the community. The role involves delivering high quality programs, events, and services in a safe and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver private, semi-private, and group tennis lessons in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.
  • Assist the Recreation Programmer with planning, directing, and overseeing day-to-day operations of club lessons and programs.
  • Provide quality customer service to participants, parents/guardians, and the general public and respond to program feedback, enquiries, and requests promptly.
  • Communicate and document any concerns regarding health and safety, attendance, participants, equipment, inventory, and facility spaces to the Recreation Programmer.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including performing minor first aid and arranging for medical assistance.
  • Provide leadership for other coaches and instructors, including support for lesson plans and coaching strategies.
  • Conduct tryout sessions for leagues/teams and other programs prior to the start of the season.
  • Requirements

    • 4.0 NTRP playing level minimum.
    • 5+ years experience working in a club environment with all ages and skill levels.
    • TPA Club Pro 2 certification or higher preferred.
    • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
    • Current High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development and High Five Sport certifications required.
    • Excellent customer service, communication, leadership, and organizational skills; ability to interact with a diversity of patrons, parents, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
    • Availability/flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
    • Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

    Certifications are not required at the time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.

    Candidates whose Standard First Aid certification expires after June 22, 2026 must renew their certification through an aWSIB-approved provider and obtain the new Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C certification at their own cost.
