Join our dynamic team as a Part-Time Keeper specializing in Birds and Reptiles! In this engaging role, you will be responsible for caring for and maintaining the well-being of our avian and reptilian residents. Duties
- Provide daily care, feeding, and enrichment activities for birds and reptiles to promote their health and happiness
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to senior staff promptly
- Assist with habitat cleaning, maintenance, and habitat enrichment projects to ensure a clean and stimulating environment
- Educate visitors about the animals’ natural behaviors, habitats, and conservation efforts through engaging communication
- Support educational programs and guided tours, fostering a positive experience for guests of all ages
- Manage entry points by greeting visitors, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining visitor flow
- Collaborate with team members to implement safety procedures and conflict management strategies when needed
Requirements
- Passion for animals, especially birds and reptiles, with a desire to learn more about their care and behavior
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with visitors of all ages
- Experience working with children is preferred to enhance educational interactions
- Ability to handle animals gently and responsibly while adhering to safety guidelines
- Basic knowledge of conflict management techniques to address visitor concerns or behavioral issues calmly
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays as needed
- Prior experience in sports coaching or working with teams can be an asset for engaging groups during educational activities
