Job Title: Lead Certified Medical Assistant / Procedure Tech

Location: Phoenix Ortho Injury Spine & Extremity, Stone Mountain, GA

Reports To: Medical Office Manager/Director of ASC

Job Description:

Phoenix Ortho Injury Spine & Extremity is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Certified Medical Assistant/Procedure Tech to join our dynamic team. The Lead Certified Medical Assistant/Procedure Tech will play a key role in providing exceptional patient care, supporting our clinical team, and assisting in various procedures. This position requires both clinical skills and the ability to manage and supervise other medical assistants to ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently.

As the Lead Certified Medical Assistant/Procedure Tech, you will work directly with our physicians, assisting in medical procedures, patient care, and maintaining the daily flow of our office. This is an excellent opportunity for a certified Medical Assistant looking to take on leadership responsibilities in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist physicians with medical procedures and examinations, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Operate C-Arm machine for imaging procedures, including positioning, adjusting settings, and ensuring high-quality fluoroscopic images while maintaining patient safety and radiation protection standards.
• Supervise and provide guidance to the medical assistant team, offering support as needed.
• Perform clinical duties such as taking patient vitals, preparing exam rooms, and assisting with patient history.
• Administer injections, perform minor medical procedures, and ensure proper sterilization and equipment preparation.
• Monitor and maintain medical supplies and equipment in the clinic.
• Ensure compliance with all medical protocols, patient confidentiality, and HIPAA regulations.
• Assist in coordinating patient appointments, scheduling, and follow-up care.
• Educate patients about their procedures and post-care instructions.
• Help with patient intake and discharge processes.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system. (CareCloud)
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment for both patients and staff.

Qualifications:

• Certification & Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) is required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred.
• Additional certifications or training in orthopedics or procedure assistance is a plus.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Experience assisting in orthopedic or spine procedures is preferred but not required.
• Must have extensive experience using a C-Arm machine for imaging procedures, including positioning, adjusting settings, and ensuring high-quality fluoroscopic images while maintaining patient safety and radiation protection standards.
• Skills & Competencies:
• Strong clinical skills with knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and equipment.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills to guide a team of medical assistants.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient care and team collaboration.
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Bilingual (Spanish and English) is preferred but not required.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift (up to 25 lbs.) as needed for patient care.
• Comfortable working with medical equipment and assisting in various medical procedures.
