Overview: Montana Advanced Composites (MAC) is a developer and manufacturer of advanced composite materials used in the aerospace, sporting goods, transportation, and industrial markets. We are committed to building a collaborative team and offering a safe, positive, and flexible work environment.
MAC is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager who will work collaboratively and creatively to continually improve our products and processes. This person will be responsible for organizing and executing our production schedules, managing appropriate inventory levels, and identifying opportunities to continually improve MAC’s ability to meet or exceed our customers’ expectations, and overall operational excellence within the composites industry.
Objectives of this role
- Prioritize creating a safe and clean facility, equipment and processes; exemplify a deep commitment to safe work practices in day-to-day behaviors
- Ensure the production team meets or exceeds daily production targets and quality standards
- Identify and implement improvements in production processes to enhance efficiency, ensure product quality, and reduce costs
- Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality using principles such lean manufacturing and 5S
Responsibilities
- Manage the Production Team with support from the Production Supervisor, Director of Operations, and General Manager to ensure efficient output and high quality
- Develop and execute weekly production schedules
- Monitor production performance and oversee necessary adjustments.
- Oversee materials planning and inventory management; maintain accurate inventory records and appropriate inventory levels of items critical to production
- Maintain accurate documentation of production processes including material transactions, manufacturing logs, and job records
- Coach and mentor Manufacturing Operators to develop critical knowledge and skills relevant to prepreg manufacturing; encourage a high degree of ownership in their work product. As well as fostering strong work ethic, attendance, and commitment to the business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Experience working in an aerospace, regulated, or high-specification manufacturing environment with familiarity with AS9100 principles preferred
- Working knowledge of composite raw materials, resin systems, fiber handling, process validation, and manufacturing documentation preferred
- Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment; experience with Infor XA a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical findings and work cross-functionally
- Hands-on, detail-oriented approach with the ability to work both on the production floor and in technical analysis/reporting activities
