This is a full-time salaried position with a 2–3 month evaluation period, hiring on behalf of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). We expect to hire for the position immediately. It is preferred that this position be based full-time out of our corporate office in Topeka, KS, however, candidates that have demonstrated the ability to work and lead Teams successfully in a distributed / remote model will certainly be considered.

SCCA is seeking a Director of Information Technology to develop and drive the information technology strategy and execution with insight from the Executive Team, all Departments, and end-users. With information technology being a critical cornerstone of SCCA’s operations, this position is a high-impact opportunity for a proven leader who thrives on the complexities that come with multi-system, multi-tenant and forward driving technologies, including AI-driven platforms.

Job Summary

The Director of Information Technology (DIT) will gain insight from the Executive Team, all Departments, and end-users to develop, and execute the Club’s strategic information technology plan across the SCCA in support of our stated mission. The DIT will then execute, lead, direct, and coordinate all day-to-day activities of the Information Technology department in conjunction with the plan. The DIT is knowledgeable and current in the wide range of technologies available to best support Club operations and applies this knowledge to implement technological solutions that solve business challenges.

This Position Reports to the President / CEO and this position is part of the Executive Team. Additionally, this Position has supervisory and/or management responsibility for: developers, desktop support, and assigned contractors.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all SCCA network and IT infrastructure systems and services, including determining when to personally execute work versus delegate or oversee execution based on situational need. Ensure core business operations and the technology that supports them operate with maximum effectiveness and minimal downtime.
• Lead and manage the development and implementation of critical hardware and software systems required to support and fulfill the SCCA mission, including determining when to personally execute work versus delegate or oversee execution based on situational need. Keep all systems up-to-date and current with advances in technology.
• Collaborate extensively with all internal stakeholder teams in service of developing, deploying, and improving critical IT solutions / infrastructure in support of our stated Mission. Core stakeholders: Board of Directors, Executive Team plus all Program, Membership, Region Services, Marketing, Finance, and Sanction teams.
• Lead and manage all IT department personnel, key contractors, and technology partners. The SCCA DIT is a “player coach” who can lead and do, effectively and consistently. The DIT is responsible for supervising all IT employees, contractors, and technology partners. As such this position is key to bringing insight and oversight to all key initiatives.
• Develop and maintain network and infrastructure security for the company across all key systems, applications, platforms, and databases.
• Lead and manage IT Disaster Recovery plan and Data Backup Systems to ensure that all critical data is backed up and archived for safety and access to retrieval when restoration of data is required due to accidental data loss or catastrophic circumstances and acts of God.
• Develop, manage, and track annual IT Department budget while contributing to meeting and exceeding SCCA, Inc. Annual Operating Plan budget.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, or a closely related field.
• 7–10 years of progressively responsible Information Technology leadership and responsibilities, with demonstrated team and project leadership experience. The ability to collaborate with others in service of planning, directing, and leading the work of a small Team to achieve significant outcomes.
• Exceptionally strong skills in communication across and amongst teams.
• Broad based technology background covering application development, infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, and security.
• Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server databases and database applications; experience with report writers. Knowledge of MySQL.
• Enterprise-wide network and application security as well as enterprise virus protection, detection, and cleansing.
• Strong experience with Windows Networks including backup and recovery of server data.
• Record of accomplishment for delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Project management ability, organizational skills, facilitation and motivation skills, strong interpersonal, analytical, and written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of C#, PHP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and related technologies.
• Experience and knowledge of Object Oriented, Test Driven, and Agile development.
• Support a minimum of three – five SCCA events per year. Director, Information Technology Information Technology Department

Physical Requirements

• Requires walking 10% of the time, standing 30% and sitting 60% of the time.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 10 pounds daily.
• Ability to participate in high level as well as routine conversation.
• Conditions may require work in low and bright light; use of near and far vision acuity; use of depth perception, color sensitivity, and a field of vision (peripheral vision).

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant IT or cybersecurity certifications, such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (or equivalent).
• An understanding of the SCCA’s structure, membership, customers, and the constituencies the Club office supports.
• Experience working with membership organizations and a passion for Motorsports and the SCCA are significant value adds.

Environmental Information

Work is conducted in outdoor motorsports and in indoor business environments. Some exposure to unfavorable conditions may be encountered during travel for business requirements located within the areas as well as to member locations.
