Children’s Fitness and Development Coach Jobs in Brooklyn, NY at My Gym Brooklyn

We don’t hire people to teach classes. We develop coaches who inspire confidence, create unforgettable experiences, and leave a lasting impact on every child and family they meet.

At My Gym, fun is part of the job—but it isn’t the job.

Behind every unforgettable class is preparation, accountability, teamwork, and a genuine commitment to helping children grow. Every high five, every encouraging word, and every challenge overcome helps build confidence that lasts far beyond the gym.

We’re growing! As we prepare to open our newest location in Williamsburg, we’re looking for exceptional people to join our team. While many of our current opportunities are connected to our Williamsburg expansion, we’re always looking for great coaches across all of our Brooklyn gyms. Throughout the hiring and training process, we’ll work with you to determine which location is the best fit based on both our team’s needs and your commute whenever possible.

We’re looking for someone who wants more than just a part-time job. We’re looking for someone who wants to grow, lead, and become part of a team that’s committed to making a real difference in children’s lives every single day.

If you’re positive, coachable, dependable, and excited to challenge yourself, we’d love to meet you.

What You’ll Do

As a Children’s Fitness Coach, you’ll help create an environment where children feel safe, confident, celebrated, and excited to learn.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead engaging, high energy fitness and enrichment classes for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school age children.
  • Teach movement, gymnastics, sports skills, balance, agility, coordination, and confidence through imaginative play.
  • Create meaningful relationships with children and their families.
  • Deliver our curriculum with consistency while bringing your own enthusiasm and personality to every class.
  • Encourage children to overcome challenges, celebrate successes, and develop confidence through movement.
  • Support birthday parties, camps, special events, community events, and outreach programs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with your teammates to provide an exceptional experience for every family.
  • Participate in ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people with great character even more than great résumés.

You’ll thrive here if you are:

  • Positive, energetic, and dependable.
  • Coachable and eager to learn.
  • Accountable and take pride in your work.
  • A strong communicator who enjoys working with children and families.
  • A team player who supports those around you.
  • Self motivated and willing to take initiative.
  • Comfortable leading groups and performing in front of others.
  • Passionate about helping children grow through movement, encouragement, and play.
  • Ready to represent a team with an outstanding reputation.

Experience in coaching, teaching, dance, gymnastics, sports, theater, childcare, recreation, camps, fitness, martial arts, or early childhood education is a plus—but not required.

We provide extensive training because we believe exceptional coaches are developed through mentorship, practice, and a willingness to learn.

Training & Growth

We’re committed to developing exceptional coaches—not simply filling positions.

All new team members begin with a structured paid training program designed to help you build the skills and confidence needed to succeed. Training typically lasts up to approximately 12 weeks (90 days), though individual progress may vary.

During training:

  • Starting pay is $17.00 per hour.
  • You’ll receive hands on coaching, mentorship, and ongoing feedback from our leadership team.
  • Training may take place at one or more of our Brooklyn locations, including Cobble Hill, Park Slope, and City Point, before transitioning into your long-term home location. Whenever possible, we make every effort to schedule training and placement at the location that best aligns with our operational needs and is most convenient for your commute.

Team members who successfully complete training and the introductory probationary period may become eligible to move into our Coach pay rate of $18.50 per hour, based on demonstrated performance, proficiency, and successful completion of the training program.

From there, advancement and compensation are performance-based. As you continue to develop your skills, take on additional responsibilities, demonstrate leadership, and contribute to the success of our team, there are opportunities for continued professional growth and increased earning potential.

We believe in creating opportunities—not entitlement. We recognize and reward individuals who consistently invest in themselves, support their teammates, and help create an exceptional experience for every child and family we serve.

Eligible team members may have access to discretionary bonus or incentive opportunities based on performance and business results.

As our team continues to grow, high performing coaches may have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities, earn increased compensation, work additional hours when available, and participate in select incentive or bonus programs based on individual performance, business needs, and program eligibility.
