(Temporary/Seasonal) – Recreation Division

Assistant Swim Coach – Dolphins Swim Team

  • RATE OF PAY: $17.75 – $18.75/hr (effective 6/1/2026)
  • CLOSING DATE: Continuous until filled
  • HOURS PER WEEK: 6 – 12 hours of on-deck coaching as well as meets, 4 regular

meets plus Championships.

o Season: May 18 – August 6

o Practices: Monday – Thursday, 4:45 – 7:30 PM

o Meets: Monday – Thursday, 4:30 – 8:30 PM

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Assistant Coaches are responsible for assisting the Head Coach and

Coach with the administration of the Dolphins Swim Team Program at Enfield Annex Pool. This

position assists with conducting practices, motivating participants, and instructing participants in

meet strategies and techniques. Participants range in age from 5 to 18 years of age.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Assists the Head Coach with instructing participants in the rules, regulations, equipment,

and techniques of the sport.

  • Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by

the Head Coach.

  • Assesses swimmer’s skills, monitors swimmers during competition and practice and keeps

the Head Coach apprised of swimmer performance.

  • Assists the Head Coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.
  • Maintains the equipment in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
  • Performs support tasks during meets as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.

The right candidate for this position will be someone who enjoys working with young swimmers

and can be enthusiastic on the pool deck, both at practices and meets. This candidate should

also have a strong knowledge of the technical aspects of competitive strokes, as well as starts

and turns. Competitive swimming and/or coaching experience is preferred.

Applicants must be punctual, have the ability to work independently, provide good customer

service to the public and communicate effectively with Recreation office staff. Assistant Coaches

may be expected to travel to various locations for swim meets.

Certification required or ability to obtain: CPR and First Aid certification and Lifeguard certification

preferred. Must be 16 years of age or older.
