Assistant Football Coach
The Assistant Football Coach will be directly responsible to the Head Coach and Athletic Director. Responsibilities include building a positive relationship with the booster club, community, teaching staff, coaching staff, student body, and administration; supervising student athletes; instilling the value of physical fitness, social development, sportsmanship, and academic achievement in student athletes; providing adequate instructions for fundamentals; demonstrating techniques and mechanics of fundamentals;
evaluating student athlete techniques and mechanics for fundamentals; correcting flaws and defects in student athletes performances; planning strategies for competition; making adjustments during competition; cooperating with fellow coaches, officials, and school personnel; and instilling a value of knowledge and appreciation for the characteristics of the sport.
Requirements include being supportive of the head coach; accepting duties assigned by the head coach; respecting and enforcing the letter and intent of rules and regulation and Code of Behavior with integrity; dressing appropriately for practice and games; displaying enthusiasm in coaching; developing athletes’ leadership skills; helping players develop and strengthen values and morals; exhibiting knowledge of the sport; maintaining a high ethical standard for coaches and students;
promoting all sports in the athletic program; being cooperative in sharing facilities; and being prompt in meeting the team for practice, competition, buses, and meetings.
Qualifications include having a valid Illinois Standard Teaching Certificate or having satisfactorily completed a coaching training program approved by the IHSA Board of Director (ASEP); and being CPR/AED certified. Salary is based on the Teacher Bargain Contract.
