The Assistant Director of Catholic Youth Sports supports the overall leadership and administration of a dynamic and mission-driven sports program serving Kindergarten through 8th grade students across Brevard, Orange, and Volusia counties. Working closely with the Director of CYS, this individual ensures program operations reflect Catholic values, promotes excellence in youth sports, and contributes to the spiritual and physical development of all participants. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and passionate about youth development and the Catholic faith.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to represent the core responsibilities of this position.   • Assists the Director with the day-to-day operations of the Catholic Youth Sports program, ensuring consistency and quality across all locations.
  • Helps communicate program guidelines and expectations to coaches, families, and school administrators.
  • Supports compliance with diocesan policies and the overall mission of Catholic education.
  • Supports partnerships with key programs such as the University of Notre Dame’s Play Like A Champion Today, ensuring all coaches and parents complete the required training.
  • Works with school principals and administrators to strengthen program participation and family involvement.
  • Promotes respectful and faith-centered behavior among parents, spectators, and volunteers.
  • Helps coordinate sports events, league activities, and tournaments, ensuring logistics and scheduling are well managed.
  • Supports an encouraging environment where student-athletes can grow in skills and character.
  • Assists in managing and mentoring coaches, staff, and volunteers, contributing to a positive, mission-aligned team culture.
  • Helps recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to support events and team needs.
  • Regularly attends events, games, and meetings, often during evenings and weekends, across Brevard, Orange, and Volusia counties.
  • Represents the program positively at all times, serving as a visible and engaged leader in the field.
  • Supports the Director in preparing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and securing sponsorships or funding as needed.
  • Helps maintain accurate records and ensures all program materials, schedules, and communications are up to date.
  • Models Catholic values in all interactions and helps foster a spiritually enriching environment for student-athletes.
  • Supports initiatives that integrate faith into sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership development.

Requirements:


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Education, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Proven leadership experience as an Athletic Director, Coach, or in a sports management role. Demonstrated success in managing teams and coordinating large-scale programs or events.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience managing a multi-location program.
  • Certification in coaching or sports administration.
  • Familiarity with the Florida youth sports landscape and community.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, fundraising, and marketing strategies.
  • Passion for working with youth in grades K-8.
  • Strong commitment to the Catholic faith and ability to uphold its teachings and values.


CATHOLIC FAITH

Practice of the Catholic Faith is required. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.


WORKING CONDITIONS

The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. This person must be available in the evening and on weekends as needed. Must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure. Must be able and willing to travel extensively across the three counties.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES


Physical Ability:
Tasks require the ability to exert moderate physical effort in heavy work, which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (30 pounds). Tasks involve dynamic work such as extended periods at a keyboard or workstation while also requiring mobility.


Sensory Requirements:
Tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Tasks require the ability to communicate orally.


Environmental Factors:
Essential functions are primarily performed in an office and outdoors in various environmental conditions. The role may require exposure to various weather elements such as rain, wind, and sun, depending on the location and activity. Travel to different sites is required on a regular basis.
