Job description:

Monroe University is seeking a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer within the athletic department on our Bronx, NY Campus. Monroe University- Bronx – houses 7 Division III NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) sports programs and requires competitive Sports Medicine oversight.

This role reports to the Director of Athletics.

Description:

The Assistant Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the Director of Athletics and Team Physician and provides athletic training care to student athletes competing in the University’s athletic program. Responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries within the University’s comprehensive sports medicine program and under the direction of the standing orders set by the University’s Team Physician.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses.

· Evaluation and Treatment of athletic injuries

· Assist in yearly physicals

· Providing counseling and education to student athletes

· Assisting in the coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions including set up and breakdown of water, ice, training table, medical supplies etc.

· Home game and Practice Coverages

· Travel to National Tournaments

· Record-keeping and EMR documentation

· Work with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student athletes

· Maintain inventory, ordering and stocking of supplies

· Maintenance of the Athletic Training Room

· Ability to make sound decisions in the best interest of the program

Required Qualifications

· Master’s degree/Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area of specialization with experience in collegiate athletics

· Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)

· New York State Athletic Training Licensure

· National Provider Identity (NPI)

· Familiarity with NCAA, NAIA or NJCAA governing rules

· Ability to work flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, have the ability to travel, and possess communication skills to work with a diverse constituency including students, parents, coaches, faculty, staff, administration, and outside contacts

· Flexibility to attend functions organized by Monroe University with intent to educate, share, and celebrate the Monroe University philosophy and the success of our students.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $64,000.00 – $66,000.00 per year
