We serve the Fredericksburg and Stafford communities—located just outside the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area—and continue to expand access to high-quality orthopedic care.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Orthopedic Urgent Care / Same-Day Access Clinic. This role is designed to improve patient access, provide timely treatment for acute musculoskeletal injuries, and support continuity of care for established orthopedic patients.
This is a clinic-based, non-surgical role with strong physician collaboration and support.
- Setting: Orthopedic Urgent Care / Same-Day Clinic
- Schedule: Typically 3–4 shifts per week
- Clinic Hours:
- Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Saturday–Sunday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Flexibility: Clinic hours may evolve based on community needs
- Call Support: On-call orthopedic physician available for consultation at all times
- Expectation: Participation in a rotating schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Independently evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions
- Perform focused histories and physical exams for orthopedic injuries and conditions
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies (X-rays)
- Perform in-clinic procedures such as splinting, casting, bracing, and joint injections (based on training and scope)
- Provide same-day care for walk-in orthopedic injuries and urgent conditions
- Educate patients on injury care, treatment options, and recovery expectations
- Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons and care teams to ensure high-quality, coordinated care
- Assist with triaging patient calls, clinical questions, and care coordination
- Document accurately and efficiently in the EMR (e.g., Epic) to support workflow and quality standards
- Partner with physicians, APPs, therapy teams, and staff to enhance patient access and clinic throughput
Qualifications
For Nurse Practitioners (NP):
- Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Current or eligible Virginia NP license
- Prescriptive authority and DEA (or ability to obtain)
For Physician Assistants (PA):
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- NCCPA certification (current or eligible)
- Current or eligible Virginia PA license
- DEA license (or ability to obtain)
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in orthopedics, urgent care, emergency medicine, sports medicine, or musculoskeletal care
- Strong procedural skills (splinting, casting, injections) preferred
- Ability to work independently with appropriate physician collaboration
- Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered, team-oriented mindset
