Overview
Warrender Baths Club is Scotland’s leading Age Group and Youth programme. The Club has consistently finished in the top 3 at the Scottish National Age Group Championships over the last decade and regularly places youth swimmers on national teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide coaching to athletes aged 11‑14 in our Youth squad, supported by the Head Coach.
- Deliver the highest attainable levels of individual performance.
- Ensure a progressive squad culture that maximises individual potential within an enjoyable and rewarding team environment.
- Work alongside the Head Coach/coaching team to prepare and write appropriate season plans and sessions.
- Set an appropriate competition calendar for the squad and attend competitions as required.
- Submit meet entries within deadlines.
- Keep attendance records and attend to administrative tasks required for efficient running of the squad.
- Work positively with the coaching team, fully cooperating and working alongside the Head Coach and other lead coaches within the programme.
- Provide reports and updates on squad performance from time to time.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to develop rapport with young athletes, encouraging them to love swimming.
- Seek responsibility and demonstrate a desire to learn.
- Passionate about swimming and able to work with children at varying stages of development.
- Observant and swimmer‑focused with great attention to technical detail.
Requirements
- UKCC Level 1 minimum (or equivalent);
Level 2 preferred. - Background in swimming and prior coaching experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of long‑term athlete development principles.
- Ability to work flexible hours to include some weekend competitions.
- Willing and able to work effectively as part of a coaching and administration team and develop positive relationships with key partners of the Club.
- Sound IT skills (use of Hy‑tek Team Manager); training provided.
- Complete an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check (PVG), including self‑declaration and two satisfactory references.
- Abide by and promote sound ethics, Club policies and Scottish Swimming policies, particularly regarding child wellbeing, protection, fair play and equal opportunities.
- Sign and adhere to the Coach’s Code of Conduct.
- Attend appropriate training as agreed with the Head Coach, including the National Rescue Award.
This is a self‑employed position with competitive remuneration, dependent on experience and qualifications. A 3‑month probationary period is required before the position is confirmed.
