The Academy Director serves as the leader of the Mebane Youth Soccer Association’s U7 – U10 Youth Academy, providing strategic and operational oversight of all soccer programming within the Youth Academy. This role drives a player-centered development model aligned with USSF standards, prioritizing high quality coaches, technical skills, clear player pathways, and sustained competitive success.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching Leadership & Development
– Recruit, hire, and retain high-level coaching staff with appropriate licensure
– Implement the structured coaching development program aligned with our Technical Director and USSF Education standards
– Conduct regular evaluations of coaches and players within the development plans
– Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
Player Development
– In collaboration with the Technical Director, create and implement a comprehensive, age-specific curriculum consistent with the MYSA long term development principles
– Establish clear communication standards with players and families
– Manage expectations around player development pathways and progression
Competition Oversight
– Ensure all teams receive and compete at the appropriate levels with other Youth Academy’s
– Scheduling of all Youth Academy play dates and game schedules
– Guide coaches in match preparation, in-game management, and post-match analysis aligned with the club’s overall model
– Coach games within the Youth Academy as needed to ensure all players are receiving quality coaching and education
– Ensure all players receive oral and written feedback, consisting of 2 written evaluations per seasonal year
Operational Administration
– Oversee seasonal planning, training schedules, and staffing assignments within the Youth Academy program
– Addressing needs for all paperwork during registration
– Collaborate with leadership to ensure efficient program delivery and resource allocation
– Organize coaching and parent education within the Youth Academy program
– Ensure all coaches and managers are compliant with Risk Management
Additional Responsibilities
– Coach 2 competitive teams outside of the Youth Academy (U11-U19), working directly with the Technical Director
– Represent the club at state level functions and meetings
– Assist with the club’s events
– Report directly to the club’s Technical Director
Qualifications
– Experience in the Youth Academy system
– Hold a minimum of USSF D license with expectations to earn higher licenses within a year
– Experience in developing athletes to their highest potential
– Experience in managing high level programming
– Effective communication and relationship-building skills
