Youth Development Specialist, Alpha – $100,000/year USD Jobs in Austin, TX at Crossover

Title: Youth Development Specialist, Alpha – $100,000/year USD

Company: Crossover

Location: Austin, TX

  • Austin, TX: on-site position with relocation assistance available
  • $100,000 annually, W2 compensation, paid each week
  • Full-time role: direct daily engagement with students in grades K–8

The greatest impact you can have on a student isn't delivering a lesson in algebra. It's instilling the belief that they are capable of mastering algebra independently. If that idea resonates with you, if you've seen conventional classrooms erode the natural curiosity of talented children and believed a different approach is possible, this role deserves your attention.

Alpha is a private school that has replaced conventional teaching methods. Academic learning happens through adaptive software that allows students to progress at their own speed, often advancing up to 2x faster than typical grade-level peers. However, technology alone does not cultivate resilience. It doesn't prepare a reserved 7-year-old to present confidently in front of others. That is where you come in. Half of your day will be devoted to facilitating one-hour life skills sessions where you guide students through exercises in public speaking, teamwork, concentration, and constructive feedback. The remaining time is spent in individual and small-group coaching, where you establish meaningful connections, define ambitious academic objectives, and support students in meeting those benchmarks daily.

This is not a soft mentorship position. You will be accountable for concrete results: each student meeting their academic milestones, demonstrating mastery in life skills assessments, and providing feedback ratings of 90% or higher. The students who show the most resistance are often those who require your support most urgently, and transforming a hesitant child into one who is genuinely motivated to participate represents both the challenge and the fulfillment of this work.

Those who consistently achieve strong student outcomes here advance into leadership roles, influencing coaching practices across an entire campus. If building impact through daily execution appeals to you more than awaiting promotions, this is your starting point. Submit your application now.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills sessions for K–8 student groups, guiding them through public speaking, teamwork, focus, and feedback skills using structured exercises and narrative techniques
  • Conducting individual and small-group coaching sessions where you establish goals with students, monitor their advancement in academic software, and provide support when progress stalls
  • Adjusting your approach based on developmental stages: your method for coaching a kindergartner will differ significantly from how you challenge a 13-year-old
  • Delivering Test2Pass assessments to verify students have genuinely mastered the life skills concepts you've introduced
  • Reviewing student profiles, performance metrics, and coachbot data to understand each student's current status before every interaction

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering academic instruction. Math, literacy, and science are learned by students via adaptive software, not through teacher-led lessons.
  • Creating original lesson plans. You will follow an existing life skills curriculum and instructional framework.
  • Handling traditional paperwork like grading assignments, managing report cards, or test prep for standardized exams. Student achievement is tracked through assessments you conduct, not administrative tasks.
  • Working from a desk. This is an active role requiring constant movement, direct presence, and continuous student interaction throughout the day.

  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
