Breakthrough Sports is looking for energetic, dependable, and growth minded coaches for our 2026 Summer Basketball League.
Summer League Timeline:
• Evaluations: Week of June 22
• First Practice: Week of July 6
• First Games: Weekend of July 10
• End of Season Tournament: Weekend of August 21
Practice and game locations include:
• Irvine / Lake Forest
• San Clemente
• Aliso Viejo
• Mission Viejo
• Rancho Santa Margarita

Role Description
This is a part-time on-site role based in South Orange County, CA for a Youth Basketball Coach. Coaches will lead basketball practice/training sessions, teach game fundamentals, and encourage positive sportsmanship. Responsibilities include mentoring young athletes, planning, executing and critiquing age appropriate drills, and fostering a safe and inclusive environment for learning and growth. The role also involves collaboration with other coaches and communicating effectively with both players and guardians.
We also have after school programs, summer programs, camps, clinics, and additional leagues for those interested in immersing themselves in the Youth Sports world and gaining more experience working with young athletes.
Qualifications
• Experience in basketball coaching, coaching, and player development
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules and strategies
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with youth, parents, and staff
• Ability to train and guide athletes of various skill levels
• Energetic, patient, and able to motivate young players
• Passion for youth development and ability to lead by example
• Prior experience working with children or youth sports programs is a plus
• First Aid and CPR certification is a bonus
