Position: YMCA Lifeguard and Swim Teaching Role
Join the YMCA of Greater Toronto as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor, where each day presents enriching challenges while promoting safety and skill development. This part-time position is essential for nurturing aquatic skills in our community.
We’re hiring three dedicated individuals to instruct swim lessons and maintain safe aquatic conditions. Instructors will develop lesson plans and adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning styles of participants. Lifeguards will ensure compliance with safety standards and respond to emergencies effectively—making this role crucial for participant safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct swim lessons based on the YMCA curriculum
• Maintain an orderly and safe swimming environment
• Record and communicate participant performance to parents
• Setup and ensure the safety of all swimming equipment
• Engage positively with all program participants and volunteers
Requirements:
• Certification in National Lifeguard and Standard First Aid
• Current YMCA Swim Instructor certification essential
• Previous lifeguard experience is a plus
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends
