Schedule: Weekday practices and games (Monday–Friday); occasional Saturday availability required

Position Summary
Pioneer Charter School of Science (PCSS ) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach to lead our student-athletes for the upcoming season. This individual will be responsible for organizing and conducting practices, fostering a positive team culture, and preparing athletes for competitive play. The ideal candidate will serve as a mentor, teaching both the skills of the game and the values of sportsmanship and respect.
Key Responsibilities
● Plan and lead well-structured, engaging practices
● Evaluate team and individual performance to inform coaching strategies
● Foster a supportive, inclusive, and disciplined team environment
● Develop and implement game strategies that position the team for success
● Promote respect for the sport, teammates, officials, and opponents
● Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices and games
● Communicate clearly and regularly with players, parents, and school staff
● Collaborate effectively with the Athletic Director and other coaches
Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
● Ability to connect positively with high school students
● Strong communication and leadership skills
● Ability to create a safe, motivating, and respectful team culture
● Commitment to student growth both on and off the court
Preferred Experience
● Prior coaching and/or competitive basketball experience
● Experience working with high school-aged students or youth in an athletic setting
Special Requirements
● Valid First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain prior to the season’s start)
