Duties
- Lead structured Taekwondo classes tailored to various skill levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners
- Develop lesson plans that incorporate martial arts techniques, physical fitness exercises, and behavior management strategies
- Demonstrate proper techniques in kicks, punches, forms (poomsae), sparring, and self-defense methods
- Monitor student progress and provide personalized feedback to encourage improvement and confidence
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all training sessions and maintain a safe environment for participants of all ages
- Incorporate related activities such as sports coaching (e.g., basketball or cheerleading) or physical education to diversify training programs
- Engage with parents and guardians to communicate student progress and promote ongoing participation in martial arts classes
Qualifications
- Proven experience in martial arts disciplines such as Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, or Climbing; Lifeguard experience or sports coaching background is a plus
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to work effectively with students of different ages and skill levels
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to foster discipline and positive conduct in class settings
- Experience working with children in childcare or health club environments preferred
- Ability to demonstrate martial arts techniques clearly while maintaining an energetic and motivating presence
- Familiarity with swimming or other sports like basketball or cheerleading is advantageous for creating well-rounded fitness programs
- Certification in martial arts instruction or physical education is desirable; CPR/First Aid certification is a plus
