About the Role
As an Assistant Instructor at KickIt Taekwondo St. Louis, you support the Head Instructor in delivering high-quality classes and creating an exceptional student experience. You are on the mat every day — helping students progress, supporting the enrollment process, and embodying the KickIt championship mindset. This role is ideal for a passionate Black Belt ready to grow into leadership.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Instructor in teaching structured classes for all ages and belt levels
- Run warm-ups, drills, and small group training sessions independently when required
- Support the enrollment process — engage trial students, build rapport, and assist with membership presentations
- Follow up with trial class students and families to support conversion to membership
- Help explain program options, pricing, and belt curriculum to prospective students and parents
- Support student onboarding — greet new students and guide their first classes
- Monitor attendance and flag engagement or retention concerns to the Head Instructor
- Help prepare students for belt testing — track readiness and run review sessions
- Maintain mat cleanliness, equipment, and safety standards before and after each class
- Participate in school events, community demos, and enrollment activities
Requirements
- Minimum 1st Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo (WT/WTF recognized)
- 1+ year of teaching or coaching experience (youth experience a strong asset)
- Some sales or customer service experience — comfortable talking to parents and prospects
- Able to support the enrollment conversation: explain value, handle objections, and encourage sign-up
- Energetic, patient, and enthusiastic about developing young martial artists
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Background check required | First Aid/CPR certified (or willing to obtain)
Compensation
- Competitive base salary (commensurate with experience)
- Performance bonus tied to active student count and monthly enrollment targets
