Contract Length:
Fall Sport
Minimum Salary: $4,000.00
Maximum Salary: $4,000.00
Internal applicants MUST attach a signed Permission to Coach Form to application.
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Athletic Coaching License, 7-12, from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
- Completed Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association.
- Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and ongoing interest in new coaching theories and procedures.
- Model appropriate behavior for student athletes through instruction and actions.
Reporting & Supervision
Reports to:
The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.
Supervises:
The head coach advises, coordinates and supports the staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
Job Goal & Responsibilities
- Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for individual and team success.
- Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport.
- Provide necessary practice support and advice for a successful team season.
- Maintain and upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
- Provide a socially acceptable character development environment, fostering self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes.
