Join the Markham YMCA’s Aquatics team as a Swim Instructor and Lifeguard. Teach swimming while ensuring safety at our fitness center in Markham, Ontario.
This position combines teaching swim lessons with lifeguarding responsibilities at the Markham Health and Fitness YMCA. The ideal candidate will develop engaging lesson plans while maintaining a safe environment. You will also support participants’ progress, ensuring they achieve their aquatic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Teach and examine swim lessons using YMCA curriculum
• Maintain safety in the aquatic environment continuously
• Develop sequential weekly lesson plans for participants
• Communicate progress effectively to parents and Team Leaders
• Ensure all safety and lifeguarding standards are met
Requirements:
• National Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR level C certifications
• Swim Instructor certification with YMCA or Lifesaving Society
• Previous swim instruction experience preferred
• Strong communication and relationship building skills
• Flexibility in work hours including evenings and weekends
