Position: Swim Instructor at City
Become a Swim Instructor with the City of Markham’s Recreation Services, leading swimming classes and ensuring safety for all participants. Bring your Lifesaving Society certifications to motivate swimmers and elevate their skills.
As a key instructor, you will provide direct instruction and evaluation to program participants, helping them meet Lifesaving Society and City standards.
Your role will include planning lessons, maintaining safety, and engaging with users about swimming best practices. Additionally, you’ll support the swim team through effective scanning techniques and be involved in emergency preparedness.
Key Responsibilities:
• Directly instruct and evaluate swim program participants
• Organize lessons through detailed planning
• Maintain safety with proper scanning and formations
• Educate users on safe swimming practices
• Ensure rescue equipment is ready and discuss approaches
Requirements:
• Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard
• Swim Instructor and Lifesaving Instructor certifications
• Standard First Aid or Intermediate First Aid with CPR C
• Lifesaving Society Airway Management certification
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
