Girls and Boys HEAD SWIM COACH Triangle Math and Science Academy (TMSA) is an Public Charter school in Apex, NC., with an enrollment of 750 high school students in 9th through 12th grade. .ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working closely with the Director of Athletics, the head coach is responsible for supporting various aspects of the Swim program, including driving the team to practices/tournaments. The coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Triangle Math and Science Academy and Noth Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA).
Duties include:
- Daily team coaching alongside the coaching staff
- Driving players to/from games, as needed
- Representing TMSA and the boys and girls swim program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship
- Detailed Orientated
- Take ownership of the program
- Work with Swim Meet Manager Application a plus
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possesses and maintains a coaching philosophy that is in accordance with the mission of Triangle Math and Science Academy
- Coaching experience and a solid understanding of how to work with student-athletes in grades nine through 12
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to the student-athlete concept
- Effective leadership and coaching skills
- Employs good communication skills with players, parents/caregivers and the Office of Athletics
- Is energetic, self-motivated, flexible, punctual, dependable and a team player
WORK HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:
A part-time, early October to mid-March season appointment. On/off-campus responsibilities include off-campus practices and occasional weekday matches for 2-3 hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays. Coaching responsibilities include traveling with the team to some weekend golf tournaments outside the Apex area. All coaches are employed on an annual basis, and continued employment is based on a season review conducted by the Director of Athletics.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time during practices and games
- Able to squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, reach forward and repeat the same hand motion often
- Coaching in all weather extremes, including heat, cold, rain and/or snow
- Long hours during the competitive season, including evenings and weekends
- Light to moderate lifting
