San Diego Surf School is a family-owned surf school dedicated to delivering exceptional surf experiences. We specialize in surf lessons, kids surf camps, adult surf retreats, and board rentals, and our mission is simple: to make surfing the favorite thing our clients do.
We’re looking for reliable, positive, and experienced surf Instructor who enjoy working with people and want to be part of a fun, professional, and supportive team environment.
Our instructors play a key role in creating safe, memorable surf experiences for guests from all over the world.
This Surf Instructor position is primarily based at our Pacific Beach location, with occasional shifts available at our sister location in Ocean Beach.

What You’ll Do
- Deliver safe, high-quality surf instruction to beginners and intermediate surfers
- Teach group lessons, private lessons, kids surf camps, and adult surf retreats
- Provide clear ocean safety and surf etiquette instruction on the beach
- Help create a fun, welcoming environment for surfers of all ages
- Assist with equipment setup, breakdown, and organization
- Support our kids surf camps as a surf camp counselor
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 3 years of surfing experience
- Comfortable surfing in varied ocean conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Enjoy working with kids, families, and beginners
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs
- Must be 18 years or older
Preferred but not required
- Previous surf instruction or coaching experience
- CPR, First Aid, and Water Safety certifications (or willingness to obtain)
