Position Overview:
As a Summer Camp RN, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of our campers and staff members throughout the summer. You will work closely with our camp’s healthcare team to provide first aid, administer medications, and assess and address any health-related concerns that may arise during the camp season.
Responsibilities:
- Administer first aid and provide medical care to campers and staff as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all campers and staff.
- Dispense medications to campers in accordance with prescribed instructions and camp policies.
- Collaborate with the camp director and healthcare team to implement health and safety protocols.
- Monitor and manage the camp’s infirmary, ensuring it is clean and well-equipped.
- Assess and address any health-related concerns or emergencies promptly and professionally.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents/guardians, and staff regarding health matters.
- Assist in organizing and implementing health-related programs and educational initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant state and local health regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid RN license in the state of Massachusetts.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in a camp or school health setting is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A passion for working with children and adolescents.
- Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with others.
- Flexibility and adaptability to a camp setting and its unique challenges.
Additional Information:
- The camp Health Center includes a director of health services, a physician, a head nurse who is a nurse practioner, registered nurses, assistant nurses, athletic trainers, and medical aides. The health center is manned twenty-four hours a day.
- The health center is recently remodeled and has a beautiful pine-paneled reception area, private examination areas, overnight accommodations for over a dozen boys. Each room is equipped with a television to help the hours pass by more pleasantly. The Health Center also has its own kitchen. We use an EMR reporting system to keep track of the details of the care of your son.
- Camp has around 350 boys attending each summer
