Position Summary
The Student Technician for Sports and Wellness is responsible for completing maintenance and repairs of equipment and facility for Sports and Wellness Facilities, including, Wellness Center, Natatorium, and Fencing Center. Duties for this position include daily cleaning of the facility, equipment, and dressing rooms. The Student Technician for Sports and Wellness reports to Assistant Director of Sports and Wellness.
This applicant pool will remain online and be used to hire interested UIW students as the need arises.
Essential Functions
- Complete scheduled walkthrough as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Sports and Wellness.
- Reports any repairs needed to the technician supervisor and assists with repairs and maintenance (outsourced and in-house).
- Responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness in all fitness areas during shift, i.e., sweep, vacuum, dust and mop floors; dust and thoroughly clean and disinfect fitness equipment; fill and stock all cleaning supplies throughout shift in fitness areas.
- Responsible for keeping all equipment assigned to area safe, orderly and in sanitary condition; reports needed repairs; maintain weight equipment to assure efficient operation.
- Organize and clean equipment and conduct preventative maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Current full-time student at the University of the Incarnate Word.
Required Work Experience
None.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of fitness facilities, equipment, and tools.
- One or more years of work experience in the fitness and wellness industry.
- One or more years of work in customer service industry.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
Work Hours
Varies, flexible schedule.
Physical Demands
This position requires manual labor with the ability to lift 50 pounds.
