Student Performance Strategist, Alpha – $150,000/year USD Jobs in Santa Barbara, CA at Crossover

Title: Student Performance Strategist, Alpha – $150,000/year USD

Company: Crossover

Location: Santa Barbara, CA

  • On-campus placement at Alpha School locations in Santa Barbara, CA; Santa Monica, CA; San Francisco, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boston, MA; or New York City, NY
  • W2 compensation of $150,000/year, distributed weekly. Full health benefits begin day one.
  • Relocation assistance available for candidates committing to one full school year on campus

You believe that maintaining rigorous standards is the most respectful way to serve a student. Your background includes competing, creating, or performing at an elite level—one that most people encounter only through reading: top-tier collegiate achievement with honors, participation in highly selective organizations, elite-level athletics, or building a venture from the ground up. Imagine channeling that discipline into a setting where K-12 students gain access to a mentor of your caliber, someone prepared to elevate their expectations to levels they never imagined possible. If the concept of upholding elite standards for young people strikes you as unreasonable, this role is not for you.

Alpha leverages AI-driven 1-on-1 instruction to enable students to complete core academic work in roughly two hours daily. The remainder of each day is dedicated to life-skill development, passion projects, and meaningful personal growth. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They require a credible mentor whose personal track record defines what excellence looks like: someone capable of assessing group dynamics, establishing behavioral norms, and guiding students through resistance, distraction, and moments of self-doubt.

You will not be teaching academic content. AI manages instructional delivery. Your mission is to inspire, coach, and enforce the same exacting standards you have applied to your own life. Forty percent of your time involves direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions that identify obstacles and establish ambitious objectives. Another forty percent is spent facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for competency development, not for engagement alone. The final twenty percent is dedicated to launching each day with purposeful morning sessions that cultivate a campus culture incompatible with mediocrity.

Your trajectory here emphasizes deepening impact, not ascending hierarchies. You begin by mastering Alpha's methodology and earning student trust. Within months, you become the person students allow to challenge them beyond their perceived limits. The payoff is not a title change. It is continuity with the same students, year over year, as they mature with your steady guidance. It is witnessing a student who avoided eye contact in September deliver a confident presentation to a room of adults by May.

This position remains student-centered. Students are the purpose, not a platform for career advancement. If your motivation to transition from your current role is mission-driven rather than résumé-driven, submit your application now.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions that leverage Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify barriers, establish challenging objectives, and ensure accountability for execution
  • Leading structured life-skills workshops focused on competency mastery, drawing on credible narratives from your own elite background, and evaluating mastery through Alpha's Test2Pass framework
  • Establishing daily cultural expectations via focused morning sessions that reinforce high-performance norms across campus
  • Monitoring student progress continuously and refining coaching approaches based on data-driven insights rather than intuition
  • Cultivating trusted mentorship with students and families by maintaining rigorous standards, demonstrating consistency, and documenting individualized motivation strategies

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering academic instruction, creating lesson plans, or evaluating assignments — Alpha's AI-powered system manages all instructional content; your focus is on student motivation
  • Presenting to large classroom groups of 30 students (your work centers on high-impact coaching in intimate settings, not lecture-based teaching)
  • Overseeing other personnel or pursuing administrative advancement (this role prioritizes direct student influence, not organizational leadership)
  • Attending routine faculty meetings or navigating institutional red tape (your schedule remains student-focused)
  • Compromising standards to satisfy performance indicators (if a student achieves 99%, your role is to identify what prevented them from reaching 100%)
