You are our ideal candidate if you have strong hands‑on skills in yeast strain engineering, protein expression and purification, and running wet‑lab experiments. You are skilled in analytical methods such as fluorescence assays, spectrophotometry, gel electrophoresis, HPLC, LC‑MS, and protein chromatography. You interpret data, troubleshoot experiments, and take initiative instead of waiting to be told what to do.
Main Responsibilities
- Genetic engineering of yeast strains.
- Expressing, purifying, and analyzing proteins from yeast cultivation.
- Perform hypothesis-driven wet-lab experiments in plates and shake flasks to improve technology.
- Apply a broad range of analytical methods such as fluorescence measurements, spectrophotometry, gel electrophoresis, HPLC, LC-MS, protein chromatography.
- Offer strategic recommendations on research direction based on interpretation of data.
- Keep up to date with current literature in molecular biology tool development such as advancements in gene editing and implement innovative technologies as relevant.
- Presenting and simplifying scientific results & decisions internally and externally.
- Collaborating with other team members on strain engineering and synthetic biology.
- Maintaining timely and precise documentation of laboratory work and DNA design.
Position Requirements
- Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Gene Technology, or a related field with two years of working experience.
- A PhD degree is highly desired, including experience in (yeast-based) protein production & analysis.
- Additionally, experience with metabolic engineering, computational design, and/or metabolic engineering of different organisms is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills including experience identifying issues, troubleshooting complex problems, and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Experience working with other scientists and researchers to meet project goals & milestones.
- Excellent written and oral English language skills, presenting scientific projects to a variety of audiences.
