The Role

We are seeking an experienced Sports Trader to help decode, model, and optimise sportsbook market behaviour. This role is built for individuals who have operated inside a sportsbook environment and understand how odds are created, adjusted, and defended.

Requirements:

Minimum 5+ years experience as a Sportsbook Trader

Direct, hands-on experience working within:

  • Odds compilation
  • Live trading / market management
  • Risk and customer profiling systems

Critical Expertise Required

Candidates must bring deep, practical knowledge of how sportsbooks operate at a market level, including:

1. Market Creation (Odds Formation)

  • How sportsbooks generate opening lines using:
  • Quantitative models and historical data
  • Internal pricing frameworks and trader judgement
  • Understanding that odds are not purely predictive, but include margin and risk considerations

2. Odds Movement & Market Adjustment

How and why sportsbooks change and update odds in real time, including:

  • Reaction to betting flow (sharp vs public money)
  • Response to new information (injuries, news, liquidity)
  • Competitive positioning vs other books

Understanding that market prices continuously evolve based on data, betting activity, and risk balancing

3. Risk Management & Limiting Behaviour

Strong understanding of how sportsbooks:

  • Manage exposure and balance their books
  • Accept, reject, or reprice bets
  • Apply stake limits or restrictions

Practical knowledge of how:

  • Bettors are identified and profiled
  • Streaks or sharp behaviour trigger limits or restrictions
  • Customer-level decisions integrate into overall trading strategy
