Summary
Supervise athletic fields during youth league season.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.
- Oversee all athletic events under the youth sports department at the Recreation Center.
- Responsible for enforcing all policies, procedures and regulations as set forth by the City of Fort Lupton, Fort Lupton Parks and Recreation Department, Four-Star, Indian Peaks and any association relevant to the program.
- Issue equipment and field schedule to the umpires.
- Oversee concession stand employees/volunteers.
- Insure field safety and free of debris.
- Mediate potential conflicts between coaches, players, or public, as needed.
- Determine decisions with regards to weather situations and field playability situations.
- Report regularly to supervisor regarding status of the season, concerns and changes.
- Assist in umpiring games or assist in running the concession stand, as needed.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- Supervise umpires, concession workers, players, coaches and spectators at all athletic competitions.
GUIDANCE AND DECISION MAKING:
- Guidelines are in the form of stated objectives for the function. Work assignments are generally structured and responsible for assigning and supervising a variety of functions to achieve the objectives. The position is responsible for supervising several tasks in which several phases may be in progress at once. Work is discussed with management and reviewed for soundness of judgment and feasibility of decisions.
Qualifications and Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND/OR ABILITY TO LEARN:
- Knowledge of the policies, procedures and goals of the City of Fort Lupton and the department.
- Knowledge of specific sports sufficient to be able to regulate play and enforce rules.
- Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment for self and others.
- Skill in interpreting and applying written guidelines, precedents and work practices to standardized work situations or specific cases.
- Skill in enforcing rules and regulations and maintaining control of players, coaches, volunteers and the public.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, players, coaches, volunteers and the public.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
- High school diploma or GED; preferred.
LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION:
- CPR, or the ability to obtain within 30 days.
- First Aid, or the ability to obtain within 30 days.
- Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), or the ability to obtain within 30 days.
Supplemental Information
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, see, hear, demonstrate manual dexterity, and perform heavy lifting. The employee is required to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
