Summary:
The East Asia Super League (EASL) is now in the market for talented individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset to join our rapidly growing sports property.
The premier professional club-to-club basketball league in East Asia, EASL, is currently seeking a Manager/Sr. Manager (with actual title commensurate with experience) Brand Partnerships Sales on a full-time basis. This role will drive revenue generation in our target Japan market.
The selected individual will fulfill a range of critical functions related to sales and business development for the league, as described further below.
Responsibilities include:
- Working directly for and with EASL’s Commercial & Sponsorship team primarily to drive partnership sales and business development across Japan with a focus on generating revenue through sponsorship deals and relationships.
- Conduct industry, category and brand research to determine applicable targets and needs-based partnership sales strategies, along with contact mining and client relationship management (CRM) processes.
- Maintain detailed data and status tracking for prospective and active clients, including contact information, discussion status and next steps.
- Drive ideation, production and updating of partnership sales materials; from outreach communications and introductory presentations, to compelling proposals.
- In conjunction with Marketing team, manage the preparation of audience research materials in support of business development needs.
- Proactively identify new opportunities to build and maintain a sales and business development pipeline in conjunction with sales efforts, providing appropriate analysis and due diligence.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop sales tools and sales packages for commercial clients. Participate in the development of commercial assets tailored to market needs.
- Assist EASL with partnership business planning and budgeting, including market potential and target product categories and clientele, competitive environment and market trends.
- Gather, analyze, and maintain a central repository for relevant data from clients and other sources.
- In initial stages and in conjunction with in-country account servicing staff, manage excellent post-deal client servicing; including the execution of partner rights and benefits, and interaction with brand partners on win-win consumer promotions to help drive joint marketing exposure.
Qualifications include:
- At least 7-10 years' experience in sponsorship sales; in sports and/or entertainment media.
- Positive track record in building partnerships, business development, customer relationship management, and/or client management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and flexibly in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
- Demonstrated success working as a team player in a matrixed organization.
- Education: University degree (or equivalent).
- Languages: fluency in speaking, reading and writing English and Japanese.
- Efficient computer skills in PowerPoint, Excel, Word and other applications
- Basketball knowledge and passion for sports highly preferred.
