The Role
SPIRE is entering its most ambitious chapter. The Director of Marketing owns how that brand reaches every audience that matters: recruits and their families, sponsors and partners, sports media, and the wider sports industry. You will set the marketing strategy for the Academy and its camps, leagues, and events, then lead the team and the daily execution that delivers it. You will also play a central part in how the Academy positions itself at the front of the next era of athlete development. This is a senior role for someone who thinks in positioning and narrative and still moves fast on the work.
What You’ll Own
Brand and strategy
- Set and own the marketing strategy for the Academy across admissions, camps, leagues, and events, tying each plan to enrollment, registration, and revenue goals.
- Define the positioning and key messages that set SPIRE apart and keep them consistent across every channel and campus touchpoint.
- Protect brand voice and visual standards across all materials, from recruiting campaigns to on-site signage.
Campaigns and execution
- Build and run integrated campaigns across digital, social, email, paid, print, and on-site activation.
- Drive school enrollment and camp registration with audience-specific campaigns aimed at athletes, recruits, and parents.
- Lead event promotion that grows attendance and brand at once.
- Direct web content and the campaign calendar, holding the team accountable to deadlines and deliverables.
Team and partners
- Lead the on-site marketing team and direct creative, comms, and digital resources against the plan.
- Partner with admissions, athletics, events, and business development to align marketing with institutional priorities.
- Support sponsor activation and partner marketing.
Performance
- Own marketing KPIs and dashboards, and report results and recommendations to leadership on a regular cadence.
- Track trends across youth sports, boarding schools, and competitors to sharpen strategy.
- Use AI tools to speed content and workflow without lowering the quality bar.
What You Bring
- Seven or more years in marketing, including experience leading brand and campaign strategy.
- A track record of owning marketing strategy and managing people or teams.
- A strong writer and editor who shapes voice and message, not just assets.
- Fluency across digital, social, email, paid, SEO and SEM, web, and analytics.
- Comfort moving between strategy and hands-on execution on a lean team.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends around events, offset with comp time.
Preferred
- Master’s in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Experience in sports, athlete development, or education marketing.
- CRM and marketing automation experience.
Compensation
- Annual salary: $80,000 to $100,000, depending on experience.
