Soccer Coach (Seasonal) Jobs in West Orange at Golda Och Academy

Golda Och Academy is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-centered Middle School Soccer Coach to lead our student-athletes during the upcoming soccer season. The ideal candidate is passionate about developing young athletes both on and off the field, fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence while representing the values of our school community.

This is a seasonal, part-time coaching position that reports to the Athletic Director.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate practices that develop individual and team skills.
  • Coach and supervise the team during all scheduled practices, games, and team events.
  • Teach soccer fundamentals, game strategy, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture that encourages personal growth and athletic development.
  • Promote discipline, accountability, respect, and character on and off the field.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents/guardians, the Athletic Director, and school administration.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes during practices, competitions, and team travel.
  • Maintain team equipment and uniforms and assist with inventory as needed.
  • Comply with all school policies, league regulations, and applicable athletic association rules.
  • Attend coaches’ meetings and other athletic department events as required.

Qualifications

  • Previous soccer coaching and/or competitive playing experience.
  • Experience working with middle school-aged students is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals, strategy, and player development.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and effectively communicate with middle school student-athletes.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to creating a positive and inclusive team environment.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required background checks and onboarding requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during practices and competitions.
  • Ability to demonstrate soccer techniques and drills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry athletic equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

Compensation

This position provides a seasonal stipend of $5,000, payable in accordance with Golda Och Academy’s payroll practices.
