Position Summary
Orion Wholesale is seeking a highly motivated Buyer to join our growing merchandising team. This position is responsible for managing vendor relationships, purchasing inventory, analyzing sales trends, and ensuring customers have the right products at the right time while maximizing inventory turns and profitability. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with excellent communication and negotiation abilities. Primary Responsibilities
Purchasing & Inventory Management
· Execute purchase orders based on demand planning, inventory levels, and sales forecasts.
· Monitor inventory health, turns, fill rates, and aging inventory.
· Maintain optimal stocking levels while minimizing excess inventory.
· Review daily purchasing reports and respond quickly to supply chain challenges.
· Analyze open purchase orders and expedite critical inventory.
Vendor Management
· Build and maintain strong relationships with assigned manufacturers and suppliers.
· Negotiate pricing, dating, promotional opportunities, and freight terms.
· Coordinate vendor forecasts and inventory planning.
· Resolve shortages, backorders, shipping issues, and product discrepancies.
· Represent Orion professionally with vendor partners.
Product Management
· Manage product assortment within assigned categories.
· Evaluate new products and recommend additions to the product catalog.
· Monitor product life cycles and manage discontinued inventory.
· Coordinate product launches with marketing and sales teams.
· Maintain accurate product data including pricing, costs, descriptions, and specifications.
Data Analysis
· Analyze sales trends and customer demand.
· Review inventory KPIs including Inventory Turnover, GMROI, Fill Rate, Weeks of Supply, Forecast Accuracy, and Inventory Aging.
· Prepare reports and recommendations for leadership.
· Identify buying opportunities and inventory risks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Partner with Sales to understand customer demand.
· Work with Marketing on promotions and product launches.
· Coordinate with Warehouse Operations regarding inbound inventory.
· Support Finance with inventory planning and budgeting.
Qualifications
Required
· 2+ years of purchasing, merchandising, inventory management, or buying experience.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
· Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
Preferred
· Experience in wholesale distribution.
· Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
· Knowledge of forecasting and inventory planning.
· Power BI experience.
· Experience in the shooting sports, outdoor, hunting, or sporting goods industries.
· Vendor negotiation experience.

Physical Requirements
· Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
· Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
· Occasional travel to vendor meetings and industry trade shows (approximately 10%).

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
