Seasonal – Mountain Biking Instructor At Maine Summer Camp Jobs in Bridgton, ME at Camp Kingswood
Summer camp is where kids and staff alike unplug, disconnect, and tap into the natural wonder of the outdoors. Camp Kingswood is a co-ed Jewish overnight camp located in Bridgton, Maine, for children ages 7-17. Kingswood is located in the ideal spot to take full advantage of the great outdoors.
We have an incredible wilderness and adventure program, and in addition to animal husbandry, archery, hiking, farming/gardening, and a climbing tower, Kingswood has a Mountain Biking program, and is seeking an instructor to deliver activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ ages and abilities.
Essential Job Functions
- Write lesson plans for mountain biking activities and lessons
- Design and deliver creative mountain biking activities that make use of camp’s natural environment and trails
- Evaluate the success of the mountain biking programs and the development of campers’ abilities and skills
- Collaborate with other staff members on the Adventure Team and with support staff at mountain biking activities
- Ensure campers and staff follow safety procedures while at mountain biking programs,
- Maintain the mountain biking equipment and tools
- Keep an inventory of mountain biking supplies and equipment, requesting refills, replacements, and supplies as needed
- Conduct a daily check of the area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair
- Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning and leading those assigned
- Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights, and all other all-camp activities and functions
- Assist in planning special events and camping trips
Relationships
You will have direct relationships with other staff members, and serve as a counselor with a camper group when not on duty at the Mountain Biking course.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in mountain biking and instructing
- Desire and ability to work with children
- Ability to communicate and work with groups participating, and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff
- Experience successfully and happily working with kids in a outdoors/wilderness or sports setting
- Experience successful and happily working as a member of a team to create and implement programming for kids
Pay: $1,000.00 – $2,000.00 per month
