GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to organize, develop and supervise specialty recreation programs and activities for Lexington residents 60 years and older.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in recreation, therapeutic recreation, exercise physiology, health science, art, psychology, education, or another related field
- Two (2) years of related experience
- Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
- Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops, implements, and supervises program and/or facility activities and events
- Coordinates art, recreation, and educational classes, and/or
- Teaches group fitness classes
- Coordinates efforts to improve programs through program evaluation, community outreach and marketing
- Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates the work of subordinates, volunteers and contractors
- Oversees program and facility budgeting, finances and purchasing
- Performs administrative duties related to goals, objectives and performance including but not limited to scheduling, data entry, reporting, and maintaining inventory of supplies
- Enforces rules and regulations of recreational facilities to maintain compliance and ensure safety
- Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
All Certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.
- Valid driver’s license
- CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings, holidays, perform on-call duty and split shifts when required to best serve the public in offering recreational opportunities.
- All positions require drug testing, criminal records check, Central Abuse Registry check, Nurse Aide Abuse Registry check and APS Caregiver Misconduct Registry check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
