THE POSITION
Under direction, assists in the planning and delivery of selected recreation programs and activities to the community; provides assistance and support of recreation facilities and sites; performs other duties as required. May be assigned limited programming tasks for adult and youth sports, after-school programs, leisure classes, special events and educational programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Leads and implements recreational activities such as center activities, sports, arts and crafts, special events, contests, drama, and other related activities at the following locations: a park, community center, school, or related facility.
- Interacts with various age groups, organizations, and recreation users to exchange ideas.
- Leads subordinate staff in programming, care, and maintenance of equipment, facility, and supplies.
- Keeps records and encourages community involvement.
- Performs physical activities such as setting up or taking down chairs and tables, carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds, preparing for special events, and standing for long periods.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation or a closely related field, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid California Class “C” driver’s license.
- Highly desirable:
Knowledge of personal computer applications.
