Recreation Programs Manager Jobs in Basking Ridge, NJ at Bernards Township

Principal Duties: Responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating and supervising a variety of recreation activities, programs and events. Responsible for direct supervision of 75+ seasonal summer program staff and volunteers and 80+ volunteer youth sport coaches. Assists with supervision over other part time seasonal program staff and volunteers. Does related work as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Develop, plan, schedule and implement youth programs and special events, providing for varying interests and abilities.
  • Manage contracted program service providers and instructors, following all applicable purchasing procedures.
  • Create, update and maintain registration information and parent information manuals.
  • Coordinate program and event publicity, including, but not limited to creating program flyers, newsletters, email announcements, press releases, posters, social media posts, graphics, etc.
  • Communicate important information and program updates to participants and general public.
  • Maintain inventory and order program and event supplies, equipment and attire.
  • Follow, update and recommend program and event specific budgets.
  • Evaluate programs and review participant feedback; implement changes for improvement.
  • Manage the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervising of seasonal staff and volunteers.
  • Attend programs, trips, special events, trainings and meetings as necessary.
  • Assist customers in-person, by phone and by email; distribute information and redirect inquiries to other departments or outside organizations as appropriate.
  • Utilize software to process household information and fees related to Department functions including registrations, reservations and memberships.
  • Establish and maintain accurate records and files as required.
  • Administer, enforce and make informed decisions regarding all Department and Township policies.
  • Knowledge of the methods used to plan, organize and coordinate programs and events.
  • Knowledge of management principles and techniques.
  • Possess strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Possess considerable computer knowledge, specifically with Microsoft 365.

Education, Experience & Special Requirements

Education:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Recreation and Park administration or related field.

Experience: Previous experience in recreation, sports management, event planning, customer service, community programming, or a related field, is preferred. Internship, volunteer, and part-time experience will be considered. Experience with Canva, Constant Contact and recreation management software is preferred.
