Position Summary:
- Oversees the development, organization and operations of various high-quality programs for youth and adults in our community.
- Supports the YMCA in its mission committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
- Committed to the fulfillment of duties as they relate to program creation and operation such as youth sports, youth events, before and after school care, birthday parties, adult leagues, and/or other programs.
- Recruits, trains and supports assigned program staff and volunteers.
- Oversees and organizes facility rentals.
- Puts together leagues and tournaments for youth and adult sports.
Essential Functions:
- Plans, coordinates and supervises all programs to meet YMCA objectives.
- Expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Secures and schedules facilities. Transports and sets up equipment, purchases necessary equipment with approval of the CEO.
- Oversees and coordinates facility rentals, payments, scheduling, etc.
- Manages and runs Before and After School Care Programs. Hiring/training staff, communication with schools, parents and transportation.
- Monitors payments for programs and incident/accident reports.
- Creates leagues and tournaments, organizes games for youth sports and adult programs. Conducts parent orientations, training, and meetings for volunteers and staff.
- Organizes clinics, activities and events, schedules, and registrations.
- Compiles statistical program data.
- Recruits, trains and facilitates communication to and for program staff and volunteers.
- Works alongside community organizations such as Illinois Valley Brain Injury Clubhouse, Streator Unlimited, local schools and more to facilitate field trips, day visits, and maintains relationships with those organizations as well.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent. (Required)
- Youth Sport/Coaching Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to direct and coordinate programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development of monitoring of budgets, marketing of programs, public relations and fundraising.
- Basic budgeting and financial management skills (tracking revenue, expenses, etc.)
- Ability to create an inclusive, welcoming environment for all members.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and foster community engagement.
- Basic computer skills
- Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Working Conditions:
- The Program Director position operates in a dynamic and fast-paced environment within a community-focused facility. This role requires a combination of administrative responsibilities and active, on-site program supervision.
- Work is performed in both office and program settings, including fitness areas, gymnasiums, aquatic environments, and outdoor spaces, depending on assigned programs. The position may involve exposure to varying noise levels, temperature changes, and high levels of activity.
- The schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays to support program operations and special events. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the needs of members and staff.
- The role involves frequent interaction with staff, members, and the public, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills. The Program Director must be able to respond to emergencies, enforce safety protocols, and maintain a safe and welcoming environment at all times.
Physical Demands:
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise programs. Standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25–50 pounds, as well as the ability to demonstrate program activities when needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $37,500.00 – $39,500.00 per year
