Toray Advanced Composites (TAC) is a leading supplier of advanced composite materials for the aerospace, sporting goods, motor sport, and industrial markets. You will find our thermoset composite products on nearly every satellite, space launch vehicle, unmanned aircraft, military, and commercial aircraft in production today. TAC also provides composite materials to industrial and recreational applications including mountain bikes, medical prosthetics, and sports equipment.

Our thermoplastic prepregs, known in the industry as Cetex, are found in a wide range of commercial and military aircrafts, including large wing structures and interior applications like seats and galleys. Our Cetex products are available in unidirectional tape or fabric form in a variety of engineered thermoplastic resins including PAEK, PEKK, PEEK, PPS, PEI as well as a full line of performance thermoplastics including Nylon, PET, HDPE, and PP.


SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The Production Technician III will be considered the main operator for multiple machines and will possess full understanding of the production process. This includes being able to setup and run the machine, conduct hourly checks, and uphold Toray’s quality standard without any supervision. The Production Technician III will be accountable for upholding Toray’s quality standard and processes by identifying errors and defects for the production line(s). At this level, the technician will be expected to coach and train operators by ensuring they can identify defects and complete hourly checks on the machine. Additionally, if the machine isn’t functioning correctly, the technician should be able to troubleshoot the machine without reaching out for expert advice. The Production Technician III would be able to follow detailed instructions and complete allocated tasks without supervision. Lastly, the technician will be expected to follow procedures which include the use of personal protection equipment (where relevant), disposing of hazardous waste safely in the proper area, and training new operators on job duties and safety requirements. MAJOR DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Operations:

  • Main operator for multiple production lines
  • Set up of machine(s), run the machine(s), catch defects and errors without supervision
  • (TP) Support mix areas by making mixes with no oversight
  • If equipment and production lines have issues, operator should be able to troubleshoot without oversight
  • Prioritize work and review production schedule to ensure production line is running to meet target deadlines
  • Retrieve work orders/travelers and pull in raw material from warehouse

Quality:

  • Check for defects on the line
  • Hourly checks of the machine
  • Identify quality issues
  • Oversee Production Technician 1 & 2 to ensure all quality errors are detected

Safety

  • Follow safety procedures for PPE (personal protection equipment)
  • Dispose hazardous waste in proper area
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Oversee Production Technician 1 & 2 to ensure safety and house cleaning is met

Other:

  • Preparation (wrapping and labeling) of the product for processing, loading and unloading product from the equipment
  • Train, coach, mentor Production Technicians 1 & 2
  • Provide feedback about Production Technicians 1 and 2 training progression to Lead/Supervisor or designee
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Lead/Supervisor or designee


EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • 18 months to 36 month of experience working with composites or productions department
  • Management experience preferred (0-3 months)
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to coach and train operators with assigned tasks
  • Support and manage Production Technicians 1 & 2
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Math and basic computer skills required
  • Ability to convert grams to pounds
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions for machine operation
  • Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbally) in English
  • Able to work and communicate as a team
  • Maintain work areas in a neat, orderly and safe manner
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 55 lbs
  • Must be clean shaven in order to wear PPE/Respirator
  • Excellent attendance: ability to work overtime, weekends and off shifts when needed

Hourly pay range: $25 – $40/hr
