Pickleball Centre Head Pro – Fall/Winter/Spring
Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team offers the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community. You will be a part of something special, gaining valuable work experience and learning new skills while delivering high‑quality programs, events, and services.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver private, semi‑private, and group pickleball lessons in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.
- Assist the Recreation Programmer with planning, directing, and overseeing day‑to‑day operations of club lessons, leagues, clinics, programs, and court bookings.
- Provide quality customer service to participants, parents/guardians, and the general public; respond to program feedback, enquiries, and requests promptly.
- Communicate and document concerns to the Recreation Programmer (health and safety, attendance, participants, equipment, inventory, facility spaces).
- Respond to emergency situations, including performing minor first aid and/or arranging for medical assistance.
- Lead other coaches and instructors, supporting lesson plans and coaching strategies.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience teaching in a club environment, working with all ages and levels of play.
- Minimum 4.0 DUPR playing level.
- Ability to work well with children, youth, and adults.
- Energetic and positive attitude with courtesy and effectiveness in dealing with the public, participants, parents/guardians, and staff.
- Strong leadership and customer service skills when interacting with a diverse patron population.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to interact tactfully and courteously with all levels of staff and program participants.
- Strong organizational skills and capacity to manage multiple conflicting demands professionally.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required due to the nature of contacts in this position.
Certifications & Disclaimers
Please Note: Certifications are not required at the time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
Disclaimer: Candidates whose Standard First Aid certification expires after June 22, 2026 must renew their certification through an AWSIB‑approved provider and obtain the new Intermediate First Aid with CPR‑C certification at their own cost.
Current Standard First Aid & CPR‑C certification required;
Current High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development and High Five Sport certifications required;
Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification or Safe Management certification an asset.
