Suburban Orthopaedics Physical Therapy is seeking a motivated Full-Time Physical Therapy Technician(s) for our state-of-the-art physical therapy practice in Elign. This is a year-round position that requires working two evenings out of the week.

Physical Therapy Technicians assist Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants in the treatment of patients in our outpatient orthopaedic setting.

Job Summary:

Physical Therapy Technicians assist physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in the delivery of treatment of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in accordance with the State of Illinois Physical Therapy Practice Act. They provide supervision of patient programs, while maintaining work areas in a neat, orderly fashion.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Performs job responsibilities in a manner which coincides with the goals and objectives of Suburban Physical Therapy.

· Assists physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in the delivery of treatment of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in accordance with the State of Illinois Physical Therapy Practice Act.

· Communicates to treating physical therapists or physical therapist assistants when patients arrive, and initiates exercises delegated upon them to observe.

· Informs the physical therapist/physical therapist assistant of a patient’s response to treatment, including subjective responses and adverse reactions.

· Assists with transfer of patients as requested by staff within the physical therapy department.

· Prepares and maintains the work area in a neat and orderly fashion. This includes completion of daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities.

· Receives and stores linen. Maintains an adequate supply of linen necessary for daily functioning of the clinic.

· Maintains adequate medical supplies. Performs weekly inventory of medical supplies and informs the Facility Manager of supplies that are needed.

· Answers telephone calls to the department. Takes messages, provides information and transfers calls as needed.

· Maintains a professional demeanor toward patients, visitors, facility personnel and fellow employees when performing duties.

· Develops and maintains communication skills essential to interact with fellow employees and customers in a courteous and professional manner.

· Assists in the orientation of physical therapy volunteers and student technicians.

· Completes assigned clerical duties such a filing patient charts and scheduling patients as requested.

· Achieves and maintains a level of productivity which meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization.

· Performs other duties as requested.

· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

· Ability to prioritize tasks.

· Maintains professionalism and a positive attitude in the workplace, including teamwork and co-worker relations.

· Exhibits flexibility by willingness to rotate through selected treatment areas (or sites) when necessary and as requested to meet organization needs.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent is required.

· Previous experience as a physical therapy technician or nursing assistant is preferred

Physical Requirements:

· Frequently required to walk, stand, reach, use hands for gross motor skills.

· Occasionally required to squat, kneel, crouch, bend, use hands for fine motor skills.

· The overall physical demand rating for a Physical Therapy Technician falls within the Medium classification according to the Dictionary of Occupational Titles.

· Visual acuity.

The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Pay: $16.00 – $17.00 per hour
