Overview

Physical Therapist (Manual Therapy & Sports Recovery Focus) Jobs in Portland at Old Port Fitness

We are seeking an experienced, passionate Physical Therapist to join our specialty fitness and recovery team. At Old Port Fitness, we have a strong, established foundation in helping clients overcome chronic pain and dysfunction caused by poor movement patterns and the physical stress of daily life.

Our clinical team currently includes one massage therapist and one bodyworker. We are looking for a dedicated Physical Therapist to expand our clinical capacity, specifically someone who is highly comfortable performing a high volume of manual therapy and utilizing advanced recovery techniques as a core part of their practice.

We are currently opening a brand-new golf performance coaching facility right next to our established fitness center, and we anticipate a significant influx of golfers looking to overcome injuries, improve their mobility, and increase their longevity in the game.

We operate in a highly collaborative team environment. Clients are not siloed to individual practitioners; they are clients of the facility, benefiting from the collective expertise of our entire staff. We are looking for someone who is a true team player and deeply driven to grow—professionally, intellectually, and business-wise.

Because of our expansion, the right candidate will have the opportunity to take over a roster of existing clients, supplement our clinical hours, and eventually progress into a management role. We strongly prefer candidates who are actively involved in golf (whether playing the sport or possessing TPI certification). If you are not yet TPI certified, we will provide the education and support for you to achieve it.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Clinical Assessment: Conduct comprehensive physical assessments and movement screens to identify sources of chronic pain, physical limitations, and biomechanical inefficiencies.
  • Manual Therapy & Treatment: Deliver a high volume of hands-on manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, and advanced recovery techniques, alongside prescribing corrective exercises tailored to each client’s specific needs.
  • Expanded Coverage: Step in to cover additional clinical hours, supplementing our existing therapy staff to meet the growing demand of our facility’s expansion.
  • Collaborative Care: Work closely with our personal trainers, performance coaches, and existing bodyworkers to integrate rehabilitation with strength training, ensuring a safe and holistic approach for shared clients.
  • Leadership & Growth: Actively contribute to the growth of the business, pushing yourself intellectually and professionally, with the goal of transitioning into a management role.
  • Educate & Inspire: Guide clients on the value of injury prevention, restorative habits, and recovery practices so they can feel better and perform at their best.
  • Facility Care: Maintain a clean, safe, and professional clinical environment across both the fitness and golf spaces.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Licensure: Active, valid state license in Physical Therapy (PT).
  • Manual Expertise: Extensive comfort and proficiency with manual therapy, hands-on treatment, and advanced recovery modalities.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a sports rehabilitation, clinical, or performance-based setting, with a strong background in addressing chronic issues stemming from poor movement.
  • Golf Knowledge: Active involvement in the game of golf is highly preferred. TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) certification or a background in golf biomechanics is a massive plus, though we will help the right candidate achieve this later.
  • Team-First Mindset: Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment where clients are shared and supported by the whole team—you must be comfortable co-managing a client’s progression alongside fitness coaches and other therapists.
  • Drive & Passion: A self-starter with the initiative to grow our client base, continuously learn, and step into a leadership position.
