The Role
Imagine the opportunity to deploy overseas for six months as a Reconditioning Specialist, delivering exercise and reconditioning services to Canadian Armed Forces and partner nations while enhancing morale and welfare of all troops deployed.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage reconditioning programs for CAF members with medical conditions to improve functional abilities.

Design specific exercise protocols that support reconditioning and prevent future injury.

Coordinate and lead physical fitness evaluations and baseline testing for individuals with chronic metabolic and/or musculoskeletal disorders.

Develop and deliver fitness education sessions and workshops.

Provide training and professional development to local team members.

Assist partners in promoting healthy practices and injury prevention through initiatives such as educational programs and special events.

Support recreational activities and events to maintain mental and physical readiness.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences, or related field.

Current Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) certification.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS CPR) and First Aid certification.

Valid driver’s licence (provincial).

Canadian citizenship.

Valid Canadian passport.

Experience

Development, coordination, research, planning and delivery of reconditioning and physical fitness programming.

Providing fitness counselling to clients with physical and/or mental injuries.

Refer clients for lifestyle or medical assessment to service providers.

Leading physical fitness evaluations and baseline testing techniques.

Researching, designing, and conducting physical fitness education sessions.

Data collection, assessment, case management and report writing.

Reviewing medical providers’ assessments and developing recommendations for reconditioning and fitness programming.

Coordinating with external services regarding client progress and providing recommendations for progression.

Providing oral and written communication for professional and public audiences.

Researching, developing, conducting, and promoting health, wellness and fitness education activities.

Facilitating briefings on specialised topics for adult audiences.

Applying policies, procedures, and regulations.

Additional Qualifications Prior To Deployment

Completion of a health, dental, and psychosocial assessment.

Security screening.

Ability to walk and lift, carry, pull, or push heavy items.

Language Requirements

English – Essential.

Reading, writing, and oral – Functional.

Bilingual essential candidates considered for all positions.

Job Information
Position type:  Civilian deployment contracts are 6‑month terms. Deployment start dates may take place within the next 2 years. Hours of work:  Maximum 56 hours per week, which includes weekdays and weekends.
