Position Title: Physical Education Teacher
Job Classification: 10-month employee
Reports to: Principal
Position Summary:
Wauwatosa Lutheran School is seeking a Christ-centered, enthusiastic, and student-focused Middle School Physical Education Teacher to provide engaging instruction for students in grades 5–8. The teacher is responsible for fostering students’ physical, social, emotional, and spiritual development through a comprehensive physical education program that promotes lifelong fitness, healthy living, teamwork, sportsmanship, and stewardship of the gifts God has given each student.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (required) in Physical Education or related field
- Valid Wisconsin teaching license (preferred)
- Commitment to Christian education and the mission of Wauwatosa Lutheran School.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with middle school students.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate physical education instruction aligned with Wisconsin Academic Standards and school curriculum.
- Teach a variety of individual, dual, and team sports, fitness concepts, movement skills, and lifetime wellness activities.
- Promote physical fitness, healthy habits, cooperation, sportsmanship, and responsible decision-making.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning and physical abilities of students.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment in the gymnasium and outdoor activity spaces.
- Assess student growth and achievement through ongoing observation and appropriate evaluation methods.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student records in accordance with school policies.
Student Development
- Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, perseverance, respect, and teamwork.
- Model Christian values in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
- Foster an inclusive environment where all students are encouraged to participate and succeed.
- Encourage students to develop lifelong habits of physical activity and wellness.
School Community
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and support staff to support the school’s educational mission.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, achievements, and concerns.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and required in-service activities.
- Assist with supervision duties and other responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
- Support school-wide events that promote student engagement and community, including field days and other special activities as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate physical activities and movement skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, run, bend, lift, and actively supervise students throughout the school day.
- Ability to lift and move physical education equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Pay: From $42,500.00 per year
