A position is available for a Part-Time Strength and Conditioning Instructor at Fayetteville Academy for the 2026-2027 academic year. The start date is early August 2026.

Position ExpectationsThe Athletics Department seeks an energetic, knowledgeable, and student-centered professional to lead and develop the school’s strength and conditioning program for middle and upper school students (grades 8-12). The successful candidate will design and implement age-appropriate training programs that promote athletic performance, injury prevention, physical wellness, and lifelong fitness habits. The program serves both student-athletes seeking to enhance their performance in school-sponsored sports and students who choose Strength and Conditioning as a means of fulfilling their physical education requirement.

The Strength and Conditioning Instructor will work collaboratively with coaches, athletic administrators, and school personnel to support student-athletes participating in a variety of sports. Responsibilities include planning and supervising strength and conditioning sessions, teaching proper exercise techniques, monitoring student progress, assessing student performance, and maintaining a safe and positive training environment.

The successful candidate will foster a culture of accountability, discipline, and personal growth while helping students develop confidence and resilience. General faculty responsibilities include lesson planning, assessment, and the preparation of report cards. Additional responsibilities may include supporting athletic testing and evaluation, assisting with off-season training programs, and collaborating with coaches to align training goals with team needs.

This is a part-time position with hours approximately from 1:45-3:30 pm each school day.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, Physical Education, or a related field preferred; candidates with equivalent or related fields and commensurate experience will be considered
  • Current strength and conditioning certification through a nationally recognized organization (NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa-SCCC, NASM, or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience working with middle school and high school students, preferably in both athletic and educational settings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strength training, conditioning, injury prevention, and athlete development
  • Ability to teach and motivate students with a wide range of athletic abilities and fitness goals
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with coaches, families, and school personnel
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or willingness to obtain certification

Preferred Characteristics

  • Experience developing and implementing athletic performance programs across multiple sports
  • Experience teaching physical education, fitness, wellness, or related coursework
  • Understanding of the developmental needs of adolescent athletes and non-athletes
  • Commitment to promoting sportsmanship, character development, and overall student wellness
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students while maintaining high expectations
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to the broader life of the school community
