Overview
Fitness Academy is looking for an energetic, reliable, and engaging Part-Time PE Coach to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year at a Montessori school.
Location: McLean, VA
Tentative Schedule (final schedule to be confirmed):
- Monday: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
- Tuesday: 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Thursday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
In this energetic role, you will inspire young learners to develop a love for physical activity, teamwork, and healthy living. You’ll lead engaging sports and fitness activities tailored to children’s developmental stages, fostering confidence, coordination, and enthusiasm. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact on students’ physical and social growth while working in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Duties
- Plan and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons that promote motor skills, coordination, and fitness
- Lead sports-specific activities
- Foster a safe environment by supervising students during active play and ensuring proper use of equipment
- Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive behavior through motivating coaching techniques
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding progress and activity updates
- Maintain safety protocols including first aid procedures, CPR certification, AED operation, and emergency response readiness
- Support behavior management strategies to promote respectful and inclusive participation in all activities
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in educational or recreational settings is essential
- Demonstrated sports coaching experience across various disciplines
- Strong communication skills for engaging with students, parents, and colleagues effectively
- Certification in first aid and CPR
- Knowledge of some behavior management techniques to foster positive classroom environments
- Background in sports-specific training instruction or health club/gym experience is a plus
- Enthusiasm for teaching physical education with the ability to motivate young learners in a fun and energetic manner is a must!
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience teaching or working with children from toddlers through 6th grade
- Is energetic, positive, and enjoys keeping kids active
- Has a background in sports, fitness, physical education, coaching, kinesiology, or a related field
- Can confidently lead fun, structured, and age-appropriate PE classes
- Is dependable, professional, and has excellent classroom management skills

This is a part-time position, with opportunities for additional coaching hours through our other school programs, after-school classes, camps, and special events for those looking for more work.
