Position Summary
The Cross-Country Coach is responsible for coaching, coordination, fund-raising, and administration of activities associated with the College’s program. The Coach is responsible for leading and instructing the team sport, focusing on developing fundamental skills, sportsmanship, and a positive playing experience for all participants while adhering to ACCC and NJCAA rules and safety guidelines.
Note:
This position is based at the Prattville Campus location. The ideal candidate will recruit, develop, and Cross-Country teams and must be willing to travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaches and coaches all aspects of the sport of Cross-Country through fundamentals in daily practice sessions.
Recruits and maintains an active team roster for both women’s and men’s teams in order to develop a competitive team.
Assists with fundraising efforts as assigned.
Collaborates with Athletic Director regarding the budget.
Requisition s, purchases, inventories, and maintains equipment and supplies according to budgetary restraints.
Prepares an appropriate schedule of games or matches according to conference policies.
Coordinates travel, lodging and meals with the advice and consent of the Athletic Director.
Supports student athletes who wish to transfer to four-year institutions/teams.
Demonstrates proper sportsmanship and respect for players, opponents, fans, and other coaches.
Maintains good public relations with media, boosters, advisory committee members, parents, officials, players, community, etc.
Establishes and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
Serves as a positive role model for students, coaching staff, and the community.
Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to implement effective coaching theory, strategies, and techniques appropriate for the community college environment.
Monitors athletes’ class attendance, grades and personal conduct.
Recommends scholarship awards for appropriate student-athletes and student-managers to the Athletic Director.
Responds promptly to player injuries and report injuries to athletic director and administration in a timely manner.
Works effectively with student athletes of varying abilities, social, economic, and cultural backgrounds to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork.
Provides game results to the media; keep season and game-by-game statistics and records; provide statistical reports to Alabama Community College Conference as needed and/or requested.
Applies discipline in a positive, firm and consistent manner according to policy.
Schedules games with consideration for other campus and athletic department events.
Schedules transportation to ballgames.
Coaches all aspect of the sport to include attendance at all games and practice sessions.
Coaches weight training, conditioning, and practice.
Stays abreast of the latest information on coaching, attend coaching clinics, and attend mandatory ACCC meetings.
Maintains an active schedule to recruit prospective players, contact high school coaches, attend high school tournaments, conduct tryouts, visit prospective players and parents, tour campus with prospective players and parents, aid in students’ enrollment, ensure player eligibility.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, Dean of Workforce and/or the President.
Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree from a regionally accredited institution is required;
Master Degree is preferred.
Experience in teaching, developing, and coaching Cross-Country is required.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, and community members is required.
Three (3) years of Collegiate level Cross-Country coaching is preferred.
