Park Ambassador

Description

Under the direction of The Recreation Department’s Athletics section, the Deerpath Park Ambassador is a public-facing role responsible for enhancing the visitor experience and promoting the responsible use of the park. They will engage with park visitors, provide information, promote park safety and etiquette, and assist in maintaining the cleanliness and overall quality of the park. The primary goal is to create a positive and enjoyable experience for park users while ensuring the park’s conservation and sustainability.

Deerpath Community Park, newly constructed in 2023, is a 9.6 acre state of the art synthetic turf facility playing host to a variety of sports and community wide activities annually.

Examples of Duties

• Oversee the use and/or maintenance of Deerpath Community Park, ensuring they are safe for participants and spectators.
• Stay up to date with facility rules, regulations, and safety standards of the park. Ensure that participants and spectators adhere to these standards.
• Monitoring and management of WBGT of turf and updating website if necessary.
• Management of daily field usage schedule and updating software as needed.
• Ensure users stay punctual with rental times.
• Implement any emergency action plans and risk management strategies when necessary.
• Foster positive relationships with the community, stakeholders, and other park guests.
• Provide regular reports to Athletics section management on the park operations and challenges. Identify and develop strategies to enhance the park and its operations.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• College degree preferred, but not required.
• 1-2 years’ customer service experience preferred.
• Athletic programming/playing/coaching background preferred.
• The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with others.
• First Aid and CPR certified or willing to get certified once hired.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to pull/lift athletic equipment (with assistance if necessary) such as soccer & lacrosse goals, football equipment, baseball & softball diamond set up and other pertinent athletic activity equipment associated with setting up a field or athletic program space.
